The Homfly Polynomial for Links in Rational Homology 3-spheres

چکیده
We construct a polynomial invariant, for links in a large class of rational homology 3-spheres, which generalizes the 2-variable Jones polynomial (HOMFLY). As a consequence, we show that the dual of the HOMFLY skein module of a homotopy 3-sphere is isomorpic to that of the genuine 3-sphere .

Khovanov-rozansky Homology of Two-bridge Knots and Links
We compute the reduced version of Khovanov and Rozansky’s sl(N) homology for two-bridge knots and links. The answer is expressed in terms of the HOMFLY polynomial and signature.
متن کاملApproximating Jones Coefficients and Other Link Invariants by Vassiliev Invariants
We find approximations by Vassiliev invariants for the coefficients of the Jones polynomial and all specializations of the HOMFLY and Kauffman polynomials. Consequently, we obtain approximations of some other link invariants arising from the homology of branched covers of links.
متن کاملSignatures of Links in Rational Homology Spheres
A theory of signatures for odd-dimensional links in rational homology spheres are studied via their generalized Seifert surfaces. The jump functions of signatures are shown invariant under appropriately generalized concordance and a special care is given to accommodate 1-dimensional links with mutual linking. Furthermore our concordant theory of links in rational homology spheres remains highly...
متن کاملA Surgery View of Boundary Links
A celebrated theorem of Kirby identifies the set of closed oriented connected 3-manifolds with the set of framed links in S modulo two moves. We give a similar description for the set of knots (and more generally, boundary links) in homology 3-spheres. As an application, we define a noncommutative version of the Alexander polynomial of a boundary link. Our surgery view of boundary links is a ke...
متن کاملAn Intrinsic Approach to Polynomial Invariants for Links in 3-manifolds
We study framed links in irreducible Z-homology 3-spheres and we provide sufficient conditions under which an invariant defined on singular links with one transverse double point gives rise to an invariant of framed links. Our results also hold for framed links in atoroidal, Q-homology 3-spheres. As an application we obtain a 2-variable formal power series invariant for framed links that satisf...
